Registered Nurse

The RN, who is also referred to as the Delegating Nurse, Agency Nurse, or Case Manager most of the time, will be responsible for reporting to the Director of Nursing Services or Coordinator of Clinical Services.

SUPERVISION

  • The RN-Registered Nurse supervises nursing staff in the provision of nursing care and, as permitted by law, coordinates care delivery to ensure that patients’ needs are met following professional standards of practice through physician orders, center policies, and procedures, and national, state, and local regulations. QUALIFICATION:

Educational Requirements:

  • Must have completed the Curriculum of the Registered Nurse in an accredited Nursing Training Institution.
  • Must have a GED/High School Diploma.

Experience Requirements:

  • Must have at least 1 year of related experience working with adults and the elderly in a caregiving and nursing home setting.
  • Must have a good driving record, reliable vehicle, and valid, current Driver’s license for a minimum of 1 year with no more than 2 points on the license.
  • Must be able to successfully complete training requirements of Centerbility of Maryland, Inc.
  • Must have strong communication skills and a track record of providing care.

Credential Requirements:

  • Must have a current valid RN license from the State of Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) or any other out-of-state board license that can be converted on reciprocity.
  • Must possess a current, valid American Heart Association CPR/BLS/First Aid certificate (AHA).
  • Meet all required training and certification for this position.
  • All other vaccinations that are required.
  • Must be cleared by physician with a proof of healthcare certificate of TB & Physical.

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse oversees the residents’ medical care in the nursing home and provides clinical leadership for the team throughout the shift.

Essential Responsibilities:

Clinical:

  • Reads and reviews nursing care plans.
  • Observes and evaluates each person present during the shift, recording any pertinent information in the nursing notes.
  • Provides medication administration and records it on the Medication Administration Record.
  • Posts all medication adjustments and makes sure that staff and the delegating nurse are aware of them.
  • Provides all therapeutic procedures that call for a practitioner who is licensed.
  • Makes appropriate professional contacts (ER physician, primary care physician, program manager/program administrator) to address urgent issues.
  • Performs additional clinical tasks as directed by the DON.
